ActiveTick Feed Excel Add-in is a lightweight Microsoft Office add-in used for displaying real-time streaming market data inside Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. The program comes with over 20 built-in functions used for retrieving and displaying streaming data such as last price, bid and ask exchanges, volume, and other data points. It uses latest RTD (Real-Time Data) technology, and not the outdated DDE technology.

I have used ActiveTick for 11 years and had very few issues ... right up until 2 weeks ago. The Excel plugin only returns data on maybe 50% of US Stocks. I'm pretty sure AAPL and MSFT have more than 0 shares traded on ANY trading day. Out of curiosity, I opened their 'Trading Platform' which I rarely open and it's the same way. Stocks flat-lining because of no price or volume movement.

I’ve sent 4 emails over the last 2 weeks with no response. I’ve called 4 times and tried every voice prompt option available, but all tell you to use the Online Chat then disconnects the call. I’ve tried using the (cough) Online Chat, but it just opens a window to send a message and … no response.

I even tried bumping up my plan to the next $$ level, and the account change and payment part worked, but there was no change in the number of stocks returning data. From my end, it appears they are collecting money but not maintaining their servers or data. There does not appear to be anyone working on the business end of ActiveTick.

After 11 years of using the Excel module, I use it in quite a few of my spreadsheets to monitor my positions and the market in general. I’m stunned at the sudden loss of data and the fact that they don’t even appear to be in business anymore but are still collecting my money. Time to move on, but I’m at a loss on where to find a data source. I can’t write code and the API stuff is like a foreign language to me.
